About Us

Established in September 1972 by a group of child and adolescent psychiatrists, the New Jersey Council of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry provides a working body of physicians, who by their training, interest, experience, and research in child psychiatry are qualified to study, represent, and promote practices for the advancement of all aspects of mental health of children and adolescents. The council is made up of representatives from various functions of child and adolescent psychiatry (administration, research, training and clinical practice). Together, we act as authoritative spokespersons in the field, liaising with constituted professional, lay, and political organizations at the local, state, and national levels in relevant areas.

Our Why

Our Stories

Serving on the council was wonderful; it offered me a great perspective on organized psychiatry/AACAP and the multiple opportunities to explore CAP, through the advocacy ambassador award, as well as the passport program! And everyone on the council is just lovely! Thank you so much!
